From morning sickness to low back pain, acupuncture offers gentle and effective relief in all stages of your pregnancy.

  • Pregnancy-induced hypertension

Prebirth acupuncture

Prebirth acupuncture refers to weekly treatments in the final weeks of pregnancy, usually starting at 36-37 weeks. Research has shown that the mean duration of labor in a group of women giving birth for the first time was reduced from eight hours and two minutes in the control group, to six hours and 36 minutes in a group of women who had received prebirth acupuncture. These treatments help prepare a woman for labor both physically and emotionally.

Breeched Baby and Labor Induction
Babies who are diagnosed as breeched, or malpositioned can be successfully turned using acupuncture and a type of heat therapy called “moxibustion”. This form of intervention is most effective when done between 34-36 weeks. Women who have reached full term can use acupuncture or acupressure to help induce labor. This is often a more preferable treatment over a medical induction as we are stimulating the body to go into labor more naturally on its own.

Postnatal Treatment
There are numerous benefits using Chinese medicine for women in the six weeks following childbirth. These treatments can help strengthen the body, help with cramping and pain and also help balance emotional issues such as depression.
